My first every blog post!

Here we go!

My name is Shelly David (Aunt Mush Mush, rhymes with "push") and I love to cook! For years now I have been creating and cooking original recipes for myself and decided it was time to share.

My cooking style:
Is off the cuff, rustic, and very flavorful. I am a home cook who loves to experiment with new recipes.

My background:
I come from a very large, primarily Lebanese, family. My grandfather and great-grandparents, a mixture of Muslims and Christians, came to the U.S. between 1898 - 1913 and were well settled in Iowa by 1925. They brought with them their love of family and food and that tradition has carried on ever since. The rest of my family settled in Iowa in 1842 from New England.

Our family get togethers consist of many different types of dishes and if there are 20 of us, there is enough food to feed 50. Which is a good thing, having a big batch ensures plenty of leftovers. Yum!

Lebanese food can be time consuming to make but is well worth the effort. In our family, it doesn't last long but can be frozen and enjoyed later on.

I hope to bring you a mixture of Lebanese and mid-western dishes that you will not be able to resist trying on your own.
